Week #13

This is an image that I took for my photo sequence.  It took it at an old quarry near my house.  My photo sequence is a commentary on how implementing commercialism into places such as this one takes away from the natural beauty of the area. Enjoy.

Week #12

I created this piece based on the moral "Look Before You Leap".  I used my sister as a model, and had her representing both good and bad.  I created the fire using Photoshop filters and techniques that allowed me to control the colors and shapes of the flames.  I really enjoyed working on this piece and I hope everyone likes it :)

Week #11

This is a piece I did in Illustrator using a photo I took at a car show in Baltimore.  I love this piece because I lover Ferraris! Also, I think the ribbons adds a nice organic flow against the angles of the car.

Week #10

This is an image I took at my house this past weekend.  It stuck out to me because I think it represents Fall.  The colors are reserved, yet still very beautiful.  I also like the that I used limited depth of field.  THis photo is simple, but I love it. Enjoy!

Week #9

This is one of several versions of my "Text and Images" posters.  I used the song "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield.  I tried to depict the rhythm of the song by using the curved shapes on the left of the composition, as well as the repeated circles.  I'm very excited for my final piece to be completed! Enjoy.

Week #8

This is an image I have been working on for the "Image and Text" project. I'm trying to have the image relate to the lyrics and rhythm both representationally and abstractly. This is still a work in progress though...enjoy!

Week #7

This was one of my digital/analog compositions.  It represents a literal photograph of myself, as well as more abstract pieces of me.  I tried to accomplish this by using pictures of my house and garden, which I feel are as much a part of me as my literal features are.  Enjoy.

Week #6

This is a composition I created in preparation for our 3rd project.  I played around with selection tools and blending modes in order to create it.  I think there's a nice sense of color and depth in it.  Enjoy!

Week #5

This is a photo I took around campus this week.  I like the point of view because I feel like looking up at the flag gives it even more prestige and respect than if you look at it straight on.  It also reflects the strength and importance of what our flag symbolizes.  Enjoy :)

Week #4 (Example image)

http://www.djpettitt.com/collage10.htm

This is an example of a digital/analog image that I thought was really nice.  The composition is strong, the colors are very good, and I love the text at the bottom.  I thought this was a very nice piece.

Week #4

This is a picture I took of a sculpture on campus.  I thought the piece itself was very interesting, the way the boy is looking and sitting.  I also like how I positioned the sculpture in the photograph compositionally.

Week #3

This is one of my favorite images from this past week when I was working on panning images.  I like how the foreground and the background are blurred, but the Volvo in the middleground is almost completely frozen and crisp.  The photo was taken in a dark parking garage so that I could have a very slow shutter speed in order to pan the image.  Enjoy :)

Week #2

Hey everybody.  This is an image I took for the "self portrait" project.  Even though my portrait gets a little bit lost in this photo, I love how my reflection came out, and how you can see the entire hallway through my silhouette. I think this photo has a surreal, multi-dimensional feel to it.  Enjoy!

Week 1: 9/10/08

Hey everybody!  Here is one of my favorite images from my first week at UDel. After the rain on Saturday, I woke up Sunday morning and the weather was beautiful, so I decided to take my camera and walk around campus a little bit. Through high school I developed a strong interest in traditional photography, so I'm very interested in now pursuing the realm of digital. Enjoy!
